Exo Planets - 3D Contest [13 entries]

Morning Star Picture

Winning entry, with a score of:
63.5%
Contest goal:

The title says it all, model a 3D scene of an exoplanet outside our solar system. You can either base your design on scientific data or create a completely imaginary world. Experiment with it. Is it gonna be populated or deserted? Big or small? What will the colours be? shapes?
The view in your model has to be ON THE PLANET. Show a part of the landscape on the planet, and optionally a spectacular sky, viewed from the planet. Good luck!

wlado: WOOOOOT, my suggestion was selected! Weeeeee! xDDDDDD Oh, and I like how you modified my text to make it sound smarter. ( 5 years and 3672 days ago )
dka120: I'm not sure I understand the contest goal... is it supposed to be something like this wikimedia? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/90/Triple-star_sunset.jpg ( 5 years and 3672 days ago )
wlado: Aha =) You can also make it, for example with aliens, you can make it populated, or deserted etc etc. Really, sky is the limit ( 5 years and 3671 days ago )
downoffthedragon: Yeah, wlado! I saw this in the suggestions, and I had hoped that it got chosen. Dka120, I'm upset with you because the link you posted looks similar to the one I had in mind! ( 5 years and 3671 days ago )
billyboy: wlado, good idea. What you mean by „The view in your model has to be ON THE PLANET.” ? Camera should be on the ground ? ( 5 years and 3671 days ago )
downoffthedragon: billyboy, I think that he means as apposed to a picture of an alien solar system. ( 5 years and 3671 days ago )
itgik: yeah I think on the planet means you cant just picture a solar system etc. ( 5 years and 3671 days ago )
nishagandhi: Is adding skies allowed in ps??? then adding back in 3d programs?? ( 5 years and 3671 days ago )
dka120: Great suggestion Wlado! This is probably something everyone can post an entry to. (oh, and Sorry downoffthedragon, it won't happen again!) ( 5 years and 3671 days ago )
downoffthedragon: Nishagandhi: the way that I understand the rules, you can create textures and scenes, etc in photoshop, as long as you add it to a surface in 3d as a texture. It's ok dka120! No need for appologies! ( 5 years and 3670 days ago )

Well, technically, it's been more photoshopping here than modeling, since there was a lot to combine and texture, but the model is crucial. ;) Hope you like it!

On the edge of Galaxy M21, lies a remote planet used by a secretive and peaceful alien species for the cultivation of special plants, which are used in the production of atoms for cold fusion reaction, their main power source. The plants are seeded in biomechanical glass spheres, which are released periodically from large glass pyramids, the aliens plant factory, only growing when their spheres come to rest on the water, allowing the water and light to pass through them. The spheres absorb the water molecules and converts them to a special gas full of the rich nutrients from the alien sea. :-) rofl....
