The sides are completely flat. You can clearly see that on the surfaces like this. The glossiness cuts off directly at sharp edges, making it less realistic. If Cinema 4D has some rounding tool that can smooth the edges (by adding more polygons), it could look really good. Small amounts of bump is of course always useful. Good luck

i love the gem but the contest states that gem only...no stand, carpets, pebbles or any other objects allowed and possibly on a black/ near black background. If these are allowed i think the contestants that already past their entries would have done it differently to get more of the caustic effect.

i'm not sure if that's ok though. the theme was accepted by the admin as is and i'm not sure if lamentine has the power to change it after it was approved but it's ok with me. i don't know what others might think.

Blur is the only thing that distracts....Otherwise a fantastic work....Hope it would have been shaper it would have been the best....

the original image is very sharpe and clear. I don't know why appear so blurry here on site
