The goal of this contest is to model and render a pool table. It can be American 9-ball or English 8-ball. The choice is yours. Make it as realistic as possible. No pre-built meshes allowed for this contest. SBS is mandatory. Have fun!
The floor grain on the RH side is a wee bit too sharp, and that light reflection a wee bit too bright (the table would show a LARGE light refraction spot if the light source were that bright), but otherwise, this is a beautifully rich and elegant image. VERY nice work!
Wow, mines a guinness
EDIT: This is absolutely fantastic, I think you should get another ashtray on the small table with some beermats and a couple of half drunk straight beer glasses. Maybe a little bit of litter on the floor.
Hrm, as an ex removal man I have shifted a few pools tables before. I can say that those tiny little legs would in no way hold up the table. Even if they were solid steel then the floor would be dented in very much.
That is my only criticism however since this is excellent work!
author...your first mesage sounds like that: ''forgot no pre-built mesh .. so I removed the flowers..''....and me, I say that: remove the phone...maybe it's in the same catgory with flowers.....)...btw...how do you made the phone....? I want to learn to make myself one...)...or maybe not......)
PS
work is good ... maybe rendering is wrong!

Hay genuine2009 it might be considered pre-built since I made it for another pxleyes contest which included and SBS. After the contest over my name should show up and you can go look at my gallery which include the link to the SBS of the phone.
Ory you are right . I did not noticed, late night render and all. The table should be about 2 inch lower that part on top of floor should have been sunk into it to the first pad area. I will fix it. other then that IMHO the table is a approximation of a Victorian style pool table. Which have those small legs
Thank you every one for the Vote Now I will see what i can do since i discovered BREAK .. now I don't have to chamfer all those edges.. and Finally wrote a Normal plugin for my version of Carrara

The closeup shows a distinctive RH tilt on the table...Even allowing for "camera distortion, the slate will still be level with the back of the image. Anyone who's ever bent down to line up a shot will testify to that...
The texturing and color around the table edges is exquisite. Just level the slate.
this is really good work, but I think the hightlights on the balls need work.... Have you ever been to a place where the balls have beaten up? by that I mean, a lot of people hit the all the balls with overly welll chalked cues, which leaves marks on the balls. If you could add those and work a little bit with the highlights - This would be Awesome, not just really good!
pm if you would like some more info on what I'm talking about
Hey this is really good. I have never used any 3d programs what so ever, but I do play pool at least 5 times a week. the shadows and highlights don't seem right to me... other wise this is great! I may use it as a desktop image if that is ok with you?....
Author Gud work done but there is a major defect..as u said that u never played pool before so its obvius that u wud not know abt it....
In pool board the pockets don't protrude out like that..the way u have made it...the pockets should be aligned with the corner beams....the faulty positioning of the corner pockets are not so visible but the middle pockets are not supposed to be like that...have a look at some of the pool board images on the internet...u will sure figure it out what i am supposed to mean...gud luck friend...god bless you
forgot no pre-built mesh .. so I removed the flowers..

Very nice model but I would like to see with out such harsh lighting
Professional Job! It really remembers a place where we can play pool.
