CoyDog: Any one have an Android phone ?? ( 5 years and 3122 days ago )
mircea: exactly what i wanted to say ) ( 5 years and 3122 days ago )
Contest Moderator: people are using company/well known logo's in their entry. This is perfectly acceptable under this contest theme as it states "A Current model" As long as your logo or font is from a Legitimate source site, NO blogs or Company web pages or google. Please post your Links for these. ( 5 years and 3122 days ago )
CoyDog: Not complaining about logo etc.. Just seem that there is a high percentage of iPhone in this contest.. Maybe it is just a reflection of the current cell phone market ? ( 5 years and 3121 days ago )
Warlock: Am I the only one that thinks this is strange that entries that have reference images having no links to them? And are we meant to believe that the one’s with out any ref images are modelled from memory. (Response required)
Rule 8.3. Blue Prints: When blueprints are given as the contest theme, then you must use the blueprint and show its use in the SBS. If you use external blueprints, they should always be mentioned, and shown in the SBS, with a credit to the author, if required, and with a link to the details page of the blueprint. mircea: i supose you are talking about iphone entries. First of all, you can just google the images and find all the refference in the world. Second it's not that hard of a model to do. I modeled one iphone entries, and didn't used any image planes what so ever. Just watched the images found on google and aded the elements.
ON other entry, i just had my phone on the table and aded the elements. You should consider posting the refference for your own entries first, and then act bratty when someone makes a suggestion to one of your entries that it's not overwhealmingly praising to your modeling skills. ( 5 years and 3116 days ago )
Warlock: And I guess that it is purely coincidence that ever one that model the iphone put the button by the plus and minus buttons in the same position. Yeah right if you believe that you will believe anything. ( 5 years and 3116 days ago )
mircea: if you like i can send you my mesh for examing. How can you tell if they put the buttons in the same place? Can you measure? I personaly see differences between everyones approach and mesh. ( 5 years and 3116 days ago )
mircea: 2 of the Iphones miss the breaks in the metalic belt ( 5 years and 3116 days ago )
Warlock: This is my point mircea You said your self. Plus Your using Google for ref images 99% of these are copyright……and not aloud with in the current 3d rules.
(Mircea said : you can just google the images and find all the refference in the world. Second it's not that hard of a model to do. I modeled one iphone entries, and didn't used any image planes what so ever. Just watched the images found on google and aded the elements.)
Rule 8.6.: You are allowed to model famous/infamous characters, buildings, objects. As long as: a) you don't use a copyrighted image to use as a reference plane/blueprint. b) If you use a sketch as a reference plane/blueprint, you must show it in your SBS.
Rule 3.2: Don't personally attack anyone. (no flaming or bashing) ( 5 years and 3115 days ago )
mircea: It should be another rule...
3.3 Don't be trolling ( 5 years and 3115 days ago )
CoyDog: By copyrights rule every phone entry broke it. Because EVERY COMMERCIAL Cell phone in existence was copyrighted. This include every Electronic Equipment and Branded Computers. So essentially by strict legal definition It is impossible to do this contest. The Apple Logo, Haier Logo, LG logo. Those are all copy righted even tho the company that own the copy right allow there use under some guide line. If you use it in a defamatory way they might have some issue with you. So at min we should not show any Logo the cell phone. We should have that Blurred out like broadcast TV. Even the screen shot of all the Touch screen be it from Flicker or not is copyrighted. Because it contain Copyrighted Icons and Software product Branding. ( 5 years and 3115 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Okay fellas enough! I will not tolerate you guys attacking each other in this fashion in the contest comments.
So, let me clear a few things up with you.
Firstly, logos are allowed as long as the logo was not taken from Google/blog/wallpaper etc. There are good vector art stock sites where some if not most of these logos have been taken from.
Secondly, reference images are hard to prove if they have been used or not. This is done on the good will of the member. However if I suspect that a model has been created using a reference image and the image has not been mentioned in the SBS or links posted for it, then appropriate action will be taken. As it is, mobile phones are prolific, nearly everyone has one, and rightly so the iPhone /android type phone are the most popular. Hence nearly everyone KNOWS what an iPhone/mobile looks like.
Thirdly and finally, there is NOTHING wrong with researching a piece on the internet by LOOKING at photos of existing phones. Any 3D'er worth his/her salt will ALWAYS research a piece before starting modelling.
This conversation stops here guys.
The point of these contests is to allow people to show off their 3D skills, it is NOT a forum for a debate on the minutia of 3D contest rules. If you have a problem with the rules then say so in the 3D forum or contact me directly and I will help clear things ups. ( 5 years and 3115 days ago )

Super quality work (modelling) and a first class render and S.B.S the only nitpick would have to be with the composition it’s a little to tight ( the phone is a bit too close to the edges of the image) but this is very minor. Great work author.......
Nice little render and phone, but in high res it looks as tho you have some pinching and pulling just by the extended oval shape,Maybe some stray vertices? Not sure with out seeing a reference image.
Seems Moderator have problem with my Screen.. I have posted an update of the step on how I got the screen of the device. I don't think the SBS allows high resolution image. because the original texture used was about 1300x2400 and the screen shot of the phone was at 1800x2700 and the Scan of the keypad was about the same size.. Now I would like to know where the other contestant get there screen shot from.

Nice work on this much more of a challenge that a touch screen well done. Personally I would move the camera angle so you can show this at its full potential. Angle is letting it down at the moment.
I think this one is going to set the standard. Fantastic render.
