This contest is not so much about modelling, but more about your ability to create a scene using a simple plane with an opacity map on.

mircea: Can you post an example or something? ( 5 years and 3071 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Just Google "Opacity map 3ds max/blender/c4d/Maya" etc whatever your software is. You should get a good explanation of them and how to use them. Remember though, you have to do some work in PS or Gimp or whatever you've got to create the map for the human/humans you've chosen.
Hope this helps. ( 5 years and 3071 days ago )
mircea: i know what's an opacity map.. u didn't specified.. it has to be only a plane... just humans.. etc. kinda weird contest ( 5 years and 3071 days ago )

Missy: Not wierd to me, find a picture of a human cut it out and put it on a plane with an opacity map. Then create a scene around it. Show your skills adding 2d with 3d. ( 5 years and 3071 days ago )
HexaNode: agreed with mircea...
I still confuse, I have already search some images in google, Opacity Maps is just flat 2d, what we suppose to do with human and Opacity Maps actually? make human texture in Opacity Maps so its look 3d or make 3d human which include Opacity Maps? ( 5 years and 3070 days ago )
hetsumani: Can we use more than one model in our scene? ( 5 years and 3070 days ago )

Contest Moderator: I'll try and make this much more simpler for you.

1) find a 2d image of a human or humans.
2)cut out the figure in PS/gimp/etc
3)create an opacity map in PS/gimp/etc
4)place the human you cut out along with the opacity map on a PLANE primitive.
5)create a scene in your 3d software for you 2D Human....

I hope this explanation is much easier for you. ( 5 years and 3070 days ago )
lchappell: Looks pretty straight forward to me, nothing so weird about this contest.
My only question is, does your cut out for the opacity map need to be a human only, or can we use any kind of object as a subject? ( 5 years and 3069 days ago )
HexaNode: thanks moderator for the explanation. ( 5 years and 3069 days ago )
Contest Moderator: @Ichappell, Humans only for this one.. ( 5 years and 3069 days ago )
mircea: Ok.. this one will not be a walk in the park. High standards pushed up high early. ( 5 years and 3068 days ago )
farsite: Can I use a picture of a celebrity if it is taken from a free downloadable wallpaper? ( 5 years and 3067 days ago )
Contest Moderator: No, wallpapers are not recognized as stock. You must use recognized stock photography websites or take the picture yourself. ( 5 years and 3066 days ago )
farsite: ok cheers, I dont think I will be bumping into the required celebs to ask if I can take a snap of them so its back to the drawing board ( 5 years and 3066 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Remember guys, it's only the human that HAS to be 2D. You can use whatever 3D models you like to accompany them/him/her. This includes 3d animals/buildings/cars/poser/daz models, whatever you need to complete your scene. ( 5 years and 3065 days ago )
