A man's arm, a woman's legs, a big fat torso, or maybe a whole body if you dare. Choose a piece of human anatomy (keep it clean people...) to model and render. We want to see bone structure, muscles, proportion, etc... If you use a reference photo be sure to include it in the SBS. Texture not required but if it is added it will be voted on as well. Not looking for photo realism as much as we are looking for realistic anatomy.

The modelling of the hands is really excellent they look great in the SBS. Somehow however the final render loses a lot of the good work. I would say that you need to try and find a better texture or to paint a more detailed one. Then maybe a background and some GI and more of a scene. Also, great work on the rigging.

Thanks for the advice, I'm not very good at texturing, but I did change the lighting to add more detail shadow, and diferent poses.
You might find a free and good texture here:

I find that rather than trying to paint textures or use procedurals, shaders, etc it is better to use good pictures of the real thing.
Your right, hands are challenging and i think you did a good job with the modeling and rigging of yours here. I like the pose and the texture isn't too bad either. I do agree however that the final render takes away from the modeling somehow. Cant tell if its the lighting or the background. Good luck regardless.
what make it look unreal is because the skin look to chalky and dry. You need some sub surface scatter. to give a little translucency. and to make it less flat/dry you need some highlights. most skin contain oil. it has a pattern of highlights on it.

Male study sculpt, focusing on torso and arms. Also tested Zbrush's spotlight feature to see how it worked with polypainting. (5 years and 2946 days ago)
