oh freepin hell.. this makes a great point that we need a whole lot MORE of 3d entries.. I'm sorry.. this does NOT look 3d.. it looks like a freepin photograph (thought the spray cans on top need work.. just for light density purposes..) (this is a compliment author).. I just think that we need to have a whole lot more competitions so we can figure out what we are looking at)

I'm not negative... I'm un learned.. that means I'm a doofus magoofus when it comes to 3d.. and when I'm exposed to it I want so much more... sigh.. as my mom would say.. I'm a greedy guts...

I sure do hope that PXL makes more and more challenges like this.. so we can see everything that graphics can do.. and that's what I love about me... it still looks plastic (the orange saw texture) and the woodtexture needs some work to (wood doesn't looks like that) i'm a carpenter trust me
But the brickwall is pretty well made other then it could need some cracks etc. Great modelling tho

I only have a few minor quips... (1)the vice looks too shiny; maybe dull the colour of the body down as, as it is now it reminds me of a brand new babies toy... (2) the thread on the vice is not realistic enough, it wouldn't screw... (3) a comment about the sparks... if you are going to put them in... you'll need to have it plugged in!!.. :P otherwise a good entry...

Nice work. I love your light effects. I love the colours. Maybe you could blur the blue on the grey (That holds the saw) a bit more, so that would become more natural.

JamesD, thanks for yours very accurate critics, I've go down reflections on the vice as much I could for such a massive piece. Also give a blue tint. Complet change the thread. I was lazy on first version, made it from a simple hose. The new one is a cylinder boolean modified with 2 Helix. The sparks have to wait, i have problems with rotation since I' ve moved the objects and lost the 0 absolute world. Marcia, blured a little the blue, just a little, is my last reflection here and i love reflections.

It looks nice, but Illustrator is no 3D program. Or you used any other (3D) prog for this? Good luck!

Actually you will find that it is and it has 3D capabilities and it works with other 3D programmes such as 3D Max.

I guess pxleyes should make an another guideline for info about what software can be said to be pure 3d software... I do admit with the author thought that illustrator has decent decent ability( although I dunno how to make a sphere with the 3d extrude tool ) and is used in conjunction with many pure 3D software...

Edit: Ummm why the hell my comments are getting cut... Is there some text limit to comments... Whenever I write a long comment it gets cut... Anyways what I wanted to say was pxleyes needs to improve the description given for contest esp the theme contest...

Illustrator has 3d functionality... but you haven't used it... you have illustrated your entry from what I can make out from your sbs... So it's not really within the guidelines... sorry... maybe go back and use the 3d tools if you insist on using illustrator???
