Very nice work author, marvellous metal material, I liked it very much. and a very clean touch to the overall work.
I just have something to say about the mechanism if you allow me to, what I know is that that gears should differ in sizes to create the differences in the speed between them. most of your gears are the same size.
But nothing bad to say about the CG work.
Good luck

author says:

Thanx Bitmap for your comment!
I listened to your advice, and I have added some gears in different size.
I could have say, that since it is a "fantasy" scene, it's a huge clock with a lot of gears and some of the same size, but I must admit that you're right

So this is now what my new entry looks like: Hope you see the difference...

I love the overall effect of this one too. And the differing sizes of the cogs adds to the interest. Well done and good luck

This was originally started for last weeks mixed contest. But I rapidly realised that this was not going to happen what with work commitments.

Awesome work!

farsite says:

excellent!! only complaint would be the chain not quite resting on the clock, but thats just me being picky.

author [banned] says:

Thanks for your comment farsite...but if you had looked at the S.B.S (step 18) you would see that the chain is actually touching the sphere. Although in the final render is looks like it is not. Will have to put this anomaly down to camera angle and the bouncing of light.
