Author, the final look is indeed good but the contest is basically about the boat and this is the one thing you haven't demonstrated in your SBS. If you have made it with lines, then please show the stages since I myself have tried to model a paper boat from lines-it may look simple, but I know from that experience that it's far from easy. Hope to see that soon I'll reserve my vote till then.
I too would like to see that
Well I didn't really make a realistic model of the paper boat I created myself (irl), I only made it to look like it.
That doesn't matter, you need to show how you made your model.
An updated sbs will be up in a few minutes
Really nice 3d work, but the shadow on the left is way too dark. Ambient lighting as well as water reflections wouldn't have that cute boat dropping off into such darkness. Lighten it up a bit, and you have a great image!
Thanks MossyB, but we're past the deadline for this contest so I can't really do much about it. Although I was trying to create a wet paper look for the bottom, I didn't get the time to do it on this image. But I think the shadows kinda give the impression of wet paper as it is now.
It’s a cool idea and a nice image but dose not really fall in the (Model a boat with as much detail as possible Category) couple things for future reference or consideration
white light ( if there is such a thing) consist of the three primary colors red, green and blue so if “white light†is shining on your boat, then it is most likely to absorbs the blue light and green and red is reflected giving the boat a yellow tint more so in with the chosen background, plus you should see a little transparency as well.
Thanks Warlock.
With the daylight system, the color of the sun (light) changes colors automaticly and with the settings I used, the light had a yellow/orange tint. So if you open the image in photoshop you can see that the white color on the boat does have more yellowish color than the others. The outside of the boat also gets colors from the water.
Also, the contest also says "any kind of boat will do", which should include this paper boat inside the contest rules.
So it dose….bit contradictory would you say. What I will add is don’t completely rely on your application to do it for you, there will be times when it will not get it right, always good to have a sound knowledge base.
Great thinking...well done author...extra points for unique thinking...gl

Very nice -- like the stonework and the testure looks quite natural
I like the colors, you did a great job with the bottles and the ball
This is very cool, lots of great details in this. I really like the texture on the tunnel itself.
This has a nice composition as well.
very nice work author, colors are great, and overall mood is also fantastic...good luck

I'm not that good, jet, at modeling so I aimed for a good composition of the image, working with lighting and camera angles.
Update: I added a higher resolution version. (5 years and 3379 days ago)

Beautiful 3D render, but the tree is terribly short from the perspective you've made, and the cane itself, which is VERY realistic looking, looks too short for it's huge size in comparison to the miniature tree. Grandma must be a midget...
Check out a "real world" cane that is similar:

Really nice work, it just needs a tiny bit of adjustment.
"Grandma must be a midget" LOL poor grandma. Yes, you're right, it needs some adjustment, thank you!
Edit: adjustments done
Looks great, my grandmother was only 4'9" she could have use d it. LOL Nice edit.
I didn't see it before, but it looks great now. Very good concept and render, author. Love the symbolism of the sunset, too.
Great correction, it looks very realistic for use "in the sunset of our lives..." Well done, author!
