Head mesh create and sculpt with ZBrush.
Hair and eyes made with 3DS Max.
Eyes map made in Photoshop.
Skin base material is SSS fast skin material from mental ray.
Final render with mental ray, no post editing.
Blueprint source from The blueprints.com, thanks.

The model actually looks overall good for being sculpt in ZBrush, you've captured a lot of details, besides the eyes that look weird. And the ear could use some detail.
But the most important improvement would be tweaking the hair and eyebrows! Don't know how to fix the it in 3ds max, but maybe you could make the hair more dense with multiple hair layers.
Also, you could probably add even more details with a bump detailed map. Then this would probably be a great entry!
Thanks , dka, very very helpful. i shall try tomorrow a new render. This damn hair kill me, take me 2 hours to render. maybe i shall let him bald or make a hat, i'll see, thanks again.
Hair I think is ok apart from the fact you can see the outline of the skull, but I do agree the eyes and especially the eyebrows need some work. Perhaps some symmetry.
That it. One more render and i'm ready to kill this guy. No more male heads. I wana make beautiful women. Like A.J. No more realistic. I want 3D faeries.
Yay! You improved the eyebrows and the ears. Good. Now I will vote.
very nice

this render made with Vray and modeled with 3ds max.i just created the model with simple basic modeling techniques like spline and polygon modeling.no 3rd party textures used in this model (5 years and 3713 days ago)
Nice design and colors, the water (in fact mostly the reflection) is a bit less convincing imo. Good luck!
Great ! See you on next contests !

3ds Max. In PS I only did dodging (around the exhaust flames), blur (in the distance, to give kind of depth of field or something), and photo filter. All of that is allowed in rules.
Hope you like it! =) (5 years and 3713 days ago)
Cool! There could be a little hint of reflected light, a highlight, or even a glow that bounce off the walls due to the flames of the furthest object, to help the lighting look a bit more realistic than it looks now. Very nice entry!
Yeah, you're absolutely right. =) I don't have time to fix it tho =/ Have to go to a party now =)

Really Beautiful......Good Luck Author.
Very nice. But... I've grown roses for a couple of decades - you seem to have a Grandiflora type rose - the stems and leaves should be a darker green (almost as dark as the color you used for the shadows on the leaves, but not quite), and, most roses have leaves that have tiny serrations along their edges. GL
