Nice subject matter, and not bad composition, materials look stretched? Strange because there is absolutely no reason for it on U.V.s not unless you are using straight planar projection, plus the render is not sharp as you would expect being this close to the trike
Basic keys to this issue is to try to make your polygons equal in size than you can check if you have distortion, by adding a checker texture to your UV map, you can keep it on and unwrap/relax the UV. Relaxing the UV isn't needed, if you have no distortion but it seams you do. You may have to go in there and manually move vertices around to kill the distortion. Unwrap and Relax, can only take you 70% of the way the rest you'll have to do manually.
Interesting observation warlock. Since I always apply a checker map to my UVs first I know there are no distortions of my polys. I think what you are seeing is a natural camera distortion from the VrayPhysical Cam. Of course I could play with the vertical/horizontal shift to make the image "Straight" however as this is not an Architectural Viz, I find it unnecessary to alter these controls. Also there was a slight difference between the film gate @40mm and the focal length @35mm which could also lead you to believe the material to be stretched. If you observe the background cobbles you can clearly see they are uniform and square. This "Camera rush effect" is quite natural and exactly as I wished it to be. Most 35mm cameras have some natural distortion, whilst slightly exaggerated here, it's fine for this image. The render is not as sharp as it should be because I didn't have 18 hours to render out on high Vray settings (irradiance map set to LOW) on this occasion and Light cache set to 500 samples. I rendered image at 1600x1200 pixels, then doubled the size in photoshop. By using the Bicubic smoother. I also belive you may be refering to the wood texture?
Possible but I doubt this is just down to “natural camera distortion†what’s your poly count on his because if this took 18 hours to render on high setting I would be seriously concerned …and I absolutely have know idea way you would double the size of the image in Photoshop it does not make sense to me
Way don’t you just push your Light cache set to 1000 samples render the image 3 or 4 times the size it is and then “down scale†your image this would produce a render substantially sharper than what you have how TIP OF THE MONTH THAT IS.........
Nice tip Unfortunately my machine just hates LARGE renders lol. I'm running a poorly AMD dual core 5200. With just 4gb of ram. It's really frustrating have the side off my machine, with a desk fan on full pelt trying to get extra cool air in there. When I can afford it I want a liquid cooled intel i7. Hence the enlarging in PS. Several times on large renders my machine has neatly turned itself off!! (4 times this week alone) Can't be doing my HDD any good at all. TIP OF THE MONTH=when using 3DS Max=Vray, get a fast machine! (Or stick to low poly modeling)
I feel your pain......can be very frustrating this is what i am running only use it for modeling but i do that most of the time.......
