Created in 3ds max and rendered with mental ray renderer.

The table has hard edges. Smooth them to get better result. And the toothbrush should be a bit longer.
i hate to be a harsh on it,, but i feel the lighting is a bit off here.. The shadows cast on the surface appears to be very gentle however, the cup looks very dark in the mirror.. Could it be because you did not turn on "secondary bounces" for photons?...
Good modelling and texturing..
I tried increasing photon bounces but it still wasn't alright.
Also I don't mind the critique, it helps me notice my mistakes and I might learn something from it.
A really good effort. The light from the mr omni's is definitely not bouncing off the mirror. I rarely use Mentalray, preferring Vray. However to solve your problem I would do away with the Omni's. Instead replace them with photometric freelights. These give off real world accurate photons. The problem will also be linked to your mirror material too. The mirror material should be completely black. with the reflectiveness all the way up. This is a neat idea and if the little problem with mirror is sorted will be excellent. Good luck
Thank you r1k3r. I will definitely try those out, but I won't make it before the deadline on this competition.
Congrats for 1st
