I like http://www.getpaint.net/ ( Paint.NET ) . It’s simple, has all the basic features, it’s fast, and it’s free.
( 2 years and 4487 days ago )What about Artweaver? http://www.artweaver.de/
I always liked it due to its photoshop-like interface.
PhotoLine is one of the best alternatives in my eyes, runs on Win and Mac
available at http://www.pl32.de/
Covers a lot of Photoshop’s Features
( 2 years and 4483 days ago )Thank’s, very useful information.
( 2 years and 4482 days ago )There are LOTS of free graphic software that gives you power and control starting from medium range (e.g. Paint.NET) to the highest levels, e.g. GIMP shop – a combination of GIMP with the feel (and look) as Photoshop.
If you google for the terms “free graphic retouch” or something similiar, you’ll find a whole lot of good and free graphics programs.. just search a little!
These look like they could be affective but i have photoshop so I’ll probably just stick with that.
( 2 years and 4343 days ago )StylePix Pro is the one of the best alternatives.

What about Photoshop Elements 8?
( 2 years and 4489 days ago )Low cost (60€ at amazon.de) and very powerful. When you invest 10€ more for the “Elements Plus” Addon, you get layers and curves…
PSE is fully PS plugin compatible, so you can use nik filter etc..
