Top 100 Photography on Pxleyes in September 2011

Another month of thrilling photography contests has ended! We’ve collected the 100 highest scoring entries from the Pxleyes photography contests that were active during the month September 2011… This list is ranked by the final scores of the entries.
The most spectacular pictures were submitted in the dragonflies, extreme danger, butterflies, carvings and writing tools contest.

Contest goal:
Keep an eye out for lines, the kind that will lead your eye into the scene of the photo or even lead the eye past the scene and out of a photo. Leading lines can help to divide a photo or to unify, and it draws you into the photo at the same time. Leading lines can be straight, curved, zigzag. Think about train tracks, fences, curved roads, winding stairs. Anything that has a line of sorts that will help to draw the eye in and along it.

The hand must be completely visible (from the top of the fingers up until the wrist) and just a small part of the wrist is allowed (any angle is allowed). Just 1 hand is allowed and no further humans and animals. The object you photograph must physically be in the hand (so no illusions like a tower). Hanging / dripping down from the hand and around the hand / finger(s) are off theme; it must be IN the hand.

I was just at another site *blushes* and saw a contest for sunrise photos. While looking through them, many of them actually looked like sunsets. I wondered to myself, “how can you tell the difference between sunrises and sunsets unless you know the exact location?” That led me to a contest idea: Take a picture of a sunrise and also a sunset in the same day. Obviously they will be from different spots, but if at all possible, try to stay in the same location…just face the opposite way. Put them next to each other one one document. If you really want to make it cool, do a panorama of the sunrise, midday and the sunset 😉 You would have to keep your tripod set up all day for this though.

So make our mouths water and enter shots of homemade sweet desserts. As an extra you have to put the recipe in the description so we can also try it out. The purpose of this contest is to take the most artistic photograph of a computer part, or parts. Any computer part will do as long as it’s needed for the operation of the computer. For example, Cell phones do not count even though you can connect them to your computer, as your computer doesn’t need your cell phone to operate. Basically, everything inside your case (and the case itself, of course), screen(s), keyboard and mouse are allowed.

They can be painted with symbolic designs and vivid colors. Some masks have realistic human or animal features, while others provide a grotesque appearance. Take a creative shot of masks, it can be a gas mask, tribal mask, mask for Halloween, for drama or art. People are allowed in the picture but make sure the mask is the main subject.

8. Eau de Parfum


Contest goal:
This contest is about photographing something which is in a hand. The hand must be completely visible (from the top of the fingers up until the wrist) and just a small part of the wrist is allowed (any angle is allowed). Just 1 hand is allowed and no further humans and animals. The object you photograph must physically be in the hand (so no illusions like a tower). Hanging / dripping down from the hand and around the hand / finger(s) are off theme; it must be IN the hand.
