Q: Hi David. We welcome you to the PxlEyes community. Please tell us a few things about yourself.
A: David jon Kassan, Live in Brooklyn, born in 1977, I have a son named Lucas. I make paintings and drawings for a living.

Q: We are honored to have you here. Is being an artist a full time job for you?
A: I’ve been super lucky to be able to be a full time artist for the last 12 years.

Q: Your art is so amazing, hard to believe it’s not a photo, when we look at any of your paintings. Just HOW do you do that?
A: Thanks, it’s great that you can’t see all of the failure and struggle that went into learning how to paint well. I have been painting since I was 16 and it’s a real joy for me to do so. I’m really dedicated to getting better and trying to evolve what with what I paint. So I guess that’s how I do what I do.

Q: What kind of materials do you use?
A: I use oil paint and wood panels to paint on, as well as charcoal to draw with.

Q: Do you have any ongoing projects at the moment?
A: I’m currently preparing for my solo exhibition that is coming up this fall in NYC as well as working on a painting dvd to compliment my drawing instructional documentary

Q: Any advice for the art lovers that admire you and want to follow your foot steps?
A: The main advice I would give is to find a studio or atelier that can offer some instruction in life drawing and painting. It’s so important to draw from life as much as possible.
