Top 25 Photos from the Photography Contests in August 2013

Another month of thrilling photography contests has ended! We’ve collected the 20 highest scoring entries from the Pxleyes photography contests that were active during the month August 2013… This list is ranked by the final scores of the entries.
The most spectacular pictures were submitted in the little things, birds in the wild, i’m a bird, black and white and letter d contest.

20. Humming in Monotone


Contest goal:
Your goal is to take a photo, of an object, human or animal and turn it into a black and white photo. Whatever you photograph is up to you, but don’t forget that not everything looks good in black and white, so pick wisely and have fun!

 

19. After the rain


Contest goal:
Judging from past contests, most of us like photographing flowers. For this contest we want you to photograph a single flower. There can only be 1 flower in the photograph. Close-ups are fine, but no extreme macros. We want to be able to see what kind of flower it is.

 

18. Great Balance


Contest goal:
A person caught sleeping or napping somewhere other than their bed or normal sleeping place such as cots, mats, etc. At least more than half of the body must be visible. No head shots only. A fully or mostly clothed person sleeping. If visible the eye or eyes must be shut. The subject does not have to be lying down. Someone in a chair or park bench or anywhere that they would not normally sleep for the night such as the airport or on the street.

 

17. Nature’s Two


Contest goal:
In this contest, there must be two of the main subject. They don’t necessarily have to match, like a pair of shoes, a pair of gloves or a pair of aces. It could be two different windows in the same shot, two people, two bikes, two houses, two apples, etc. Whatever the subject, there must be two (only two) of them.

Contest goal:
Bicycles….we all love them. They are great for exercise and for getting around. The wind through your hair, the strengthening of heart, lungs and legs, eco-friendly and economical transportation — all benefits of the bicycle. Your mission is to photograph a bicycle.There can only be one bicycle in your shot, with someone on it or without. You can also include any part of a bicycle. Take a close-up of the chain or the handlebars. The photo doesn’t have to be of the entire bicycle. Tricycles also included. Have fun and see how creative you can be with your bicycle (tricycle, unicycle) photos.

In this contest we want you to photograph a small and unoticed thing or animal, in order to make it beautiful.. Such as a tiny ant or even the dust of your street… Use your camera however you like, with close-ups and everything, but just make it yours… So,”give life” to casually items and make people notice them..Give them meaning..!!!

It’s been for quite some time now since the last time we had had a panorama contest. So stitch together pictures –minimum three- of anything your little hearts desires. Landscapes, cityscapes, the interior of buildings-museums, nightscapes and so on. You have to post the single pictures you used to make your pano in your SBS.

3. Flying over the city at night.


Contest goal:
We mostly photograph things from ground level, but sometimes we get up higher, and get a bird eyes view. Show us some interesting photos, where you are looking down at things, from a height. No photos of your feet or things taken less than a couple of meters above ground, or too high up. Remember you are a bird.
