The pink swirls are somewhat distracting, and are placed in such a way, it looks like the bird has gas...

i think the wings are too small for such a big bird ----that's why the pink swirls are distracting .......... ( Do birds have gas ?)

While I really like the desing of the bird, I must say that the background kind of spoils it. Not that it's bad or something, but I think a plain dark (black maybe) background would make the bird stand out in a cool way. Just my opinion of course

Kinda pushing the rules on using the source IMO, that being said I do like the image you've created with the source as a template/reference. Best Of luck
