The technique is good, the blurry transparent edges are not. If you use Selective Color you can match the grays in the B/W area to the rest of the coat.

I think the area around ant (bottom direction) looks too blurred compared to the bg leaf which is much sharper that side.. Vice-verse in the upward direction. Hope its helpful.

The masking of the large animals right foot needs some work. I also would place the small one more to the front. They are now in the same horizontal plane with the feet, but the trunk and tusks overlap.
