I'm sorry if I got the idea for the contest wrong, I was under the impression that the image was to be a hand drawn image of a face expressing an emotion and we were not to use any photoshop to enhance the drawing. By looking at other entries in contest, it seems I may be off theme

Yes ponti55 is correct you are on theme. Hand drawings are most acceptable and will be a major part of these contests.

Author.. the only problem I see in this image is that it's perfectly on theme.. and that's not a problem at all (though sadness is a bit to simple.. I'd have preferred Melancholy... just because I see a lot more than just sadness)

I'm glad you guys like my hard work. The reason for using the pen tool was I don't have a scanner or pen tablet or digi cam. Yeah, its sad.

i think u should add a dimple besides the smile..that wud look better.

I have made this in a simple way of vector art. And I don't need dimples. If I gave dimples, I'll also have to mark some cheek under his eyes and give more depth to his hair. So, just think adding all those would lose the simple look.

thanks! i had to clean a bit.... the paper had a ugly grey hue and just brighted it a little. not much line clean up.
