DIGITAL DRAWING: Take a product from your refridgerator and draw it. This can be a fresh product (like vegetables) or packaged like a bottle of milk. Your product has to be something normal which you hold in your refridgerator.
Also include a photo of the actual product in your SBS, do not redraw or trace this photo.
This is a digital drawing contest, which means your drawing has to be entirely made in a graphics program.

LKY: I think we should use only digital tools.......a full digital software use will make it digital painting not a digital drawing.... ( 5 years and 3742 days ago )
nishagandhi: great suggestion!!! but i wont be participating (since it is not traditional) LOL ( 5 years and 3742 days ago )
tapiona: There should be some really good entries here ( 5 years and 3742 days ago )
Contest Moderator: FULL DIGITAL DRAWINGS RULES: In a digital drawing contest, your drawing has to be entirely made in a graphics program. Paper drawings are not allowed. To keep the contests fair, these contests require that you post at least 2 intermediate steps of your drawing in a step by step guide, so we can see the progress of your work. In general, you should try to avoid editing your drawings. Being a good artist also means being able to make a good drawing without having to edit afterwards. However, we do allow some basic editing for your entries. The following lists a set of tools that can and cannot be used. Most of these tools are similar in all image editing applications. What tools/alterations CAN I use in digital drawing contests? * Pen tool * Crop and rotate. * Remove dust and scratches from a scan. * The eraser. * Simple brushes. What tools/alterations CAN'T I use in digital drawing contests? * Basic Adjustments (levels, curves, hue, saturation, ...) * Complex Brushes. * Clonestamp. * Sketchy effects or any kind of other filter. * Patch. * Masks. * Liquify. * Vignettes, watermarks or frames. Keep in mind that editing your drawings should be kept minor. Too much editing can result in removal of your contest entry. A drawing contest is not an image manipulation contest! Good luck! LKY: none of the entry is digital drawing till yet....... ( 5 years and 3736 days ago )
k5683: I think I'm not even going to vote because still the guidlines seem to be misconstrued---like smudge brush and blurrs and such. ( 5 years and 3733 days ago )
Draskinn: If you can do it with a pencil drawing I would think that would be within the rules. You never used your finger to smudge a drawing? ( 5 years and 3733 days ago )

What I've learned...red does not upload well. I resorted to using gaussian blur on the red parts and shrinking the image down to a height of 500 pixels, trying to make the upload look as well blended as it does on my home image. This is as good as its gonna get. (5 years and 3737 days ago)

I drew this from memory as I did not take any photos of beer. CS3 was used for this illustration. (5 years and 3741 days ago)

Well I found the contents of my refrigerator on the whole uninspiring so I moved up to the freezer where I found a roughly 3 week old half eaten snickers and cookie dough blizzard. A sad victim of freezer funk it would in its last at least provide an interesting subject!

I used the paths tool just to get the basic shape of the cup right since I can’t seem to draw a straight line to save my life. After that it was all freehand.

So tools.

Paths tool
Pencil
Eraser
Blend (a lot!)
Dodge and Burn (a little)
Rotate and Crop at the end to straighten it out.

I was trying to go for that ruff pencil and sketch pad look.

Notes of interest.

That is a napkin on top of the cup since I didn’t have a proper cover for it when I stuck it in the freezer. Just punched a hole in it for the long spoon.

The text on the side of the cup says “Blizzard Fan Confession” and the text alone the bottom says “Become One of Us” which frankly is kind of creepy but goes right along with the creepy little girl on the cup I guess. lol.
