it's not listed in the contest rules and guidelines (and I'm not sure why) but you are allowed to edit the scan with a crop, rotation, contrast adjustment and light touches with healing brush (scanner scratches), so long as the drawing look like the original and presented to the best of your ability. I hope that helps.
