My first try at realism.
Edit:
- Candle now has some depth (5 years and 3628 days ago)
That's not bad! Though, I don't see much roundness to the candle, it looks just a bit flat and a bit too sharp on the edges. But the flame at first glance is pretty realistic, so nice job with a few adjustments, this would look very real.
I thought it belongs to a photo contest o.O. The image looks quite simple but really effective as a realistic work. Agree with Anna, now you have a bunch of time to make a PHOTO
Thanks for the comments. How is the image now?

Nose art is a decorative painting or design on the fuselage of a military aircraft, usually located near the nose, and is a form of aircraft graffiti. The practice of putting personalized decorations on fighting aircraft originated with Italian and German pilots. The first recorded piece of nose art was a sea monster painted on the nose of an Italian flying boat in 1913.
While begun for practical reasons of identifying friendly units, the practice evolved to express the individuality often constrained by the uniformity of the military, to evoke memories of home and peacetime life, and as a kind of psychological protection against the stresses of war and the probability of death.Because of its individual and unofficial nature, it is considered folk art, inseparable from work as well as representative of a group. It can also be compared to sophisticated graffiti. In both cases, the artist is often anonymous, and the art itself is ephemeral. In addition, it relies on materials immediately available. This picture was drawn by hand with brushes supplied standard issue in CS3. No filters or illegal tools were used.

draw something already broken because of the impact with the ground or other solid surfaces... this entry is off subject!
I might of misunderstood the contest goal, but this is what I thought:
In this contest your goal is to draw something already broken(Earth Surface) because of the impact with other solid surfaces(Worm). From my point of view it sounds different. I am so confused.
hmmmm... this is a kerfuffle.. I can see how it's BREAKING THE GROUND.. and yes I understand the worm is solid...
Author.. just keep it in.. the worst that could happen is that it gets pulled.. (I really think its a terrific illustration.. good luck)
Thank you Drivenslush. I will keep it.
Eh, it's really hard to say it's on or off theme so for that reason, it should stay. Besides, it's nice work. GL!
Fits for me, the monster is solid, the ground is broken. Like it !
Thanks for the comments
