Using the paint program I created this image of a blue heron with limbs of a human.
I used a photo I had taken of a blue heron as a reference to look at as I painted this image. (5 years and 3072 days ago)
Materials:
4H Pencil
Charcoal Pencil 557-2B
Kneadable Eraser
Tortillon
The largest and most widespread heron in North America, the Great Blue Heron can be found along the ocean shore or the edge of a small inland pond. An all white form is found from southern Florida into the Caribbean, and used to be considered a separate species, the "Great White Heron." (5 years and 3804 days ago)
wow!! this is great!! BTW what is Tortillon author?? never heard of it!!
They are called Blending tortillons, made from rolled paper and you can get them in any art supply store, they come in three sizes, large, medium and small. The have tapered tips and are great help in blending. I tend to just buy them instead of making my own, I always row them to loose.
Nice drawing, BTW, tortillones are also called "blending stumps" real nice for blendings.... good luck!
cool!, i notice in your SBS you mention that you used a pic, it would be great if you could also post the pic here
Sorry, I meant study your drawing to make sure you are keeping it in proportion, didn't use any pictures. My first attempt was a squat heron and looked really funny and no, not showing, I threw it away, lol
Here is just one of the birds that tend to hang around our house http://www.pxleyes.com/picture/635/4a37ebf7e64d2.html
Looks great!
Love it, well done

If you are wanting a smoother drawing line, you might check out some of the free, online programs, like pixlr.com or splashup.com, or aviary.com. They are very similar to Photoshop, with powerful painting tools.
This is a great concept, but the crude lines hurt it, visually.
I mostly agree with MossyB, but on the other hand, that's a great job for doing it in paint!
Thanks Mossy B for letting me know about the free online programs. All I have is paint on my computer so even though I realize they don't compare to what one can do with other programs...I still have a blast trying. I like to push myself within paint to see what I can do with that program. I will check out the programs you mentioned.
Mimibeth- Thank you! As I said...just try to do what I can with what I have for a program.
