This guide was made for entry: Lament In Contest: lodd
Original image
step 1 of 5
Background photo from one of my paintings opened with intention of having Lodd become part of the painting. Cut off lower neck & made new layer, tilting head forward.
step 2 of 5
Closeup of neck after detachment.
step 3 of 5
Watercolor filter was used here. I tried to mimic the technique I used in the painting, which is much harder than one would think. Also added was a slight gaussian blur, & the clone tool was used to re-fuse the neck. A shadow layer was added below the Lodd figure & some of the shoes were erased to show the foliage in front. Levels were also adjusted.
step 4 of 5
For the last step, I enlarged the canvas by 10% & tilted Lodd 6.5 degrees and applied the canvas texture filter so the canvas texture that i was adding would match the angle of the painting's canvas, then I tilted him back to his original position. Finally, I had to adjust the canvas settings to more closely match the original texture and blend Lodd into the background.
step 5 of 5
Sorry, almost forgot to show the pic of the painting. I did this as a wedding gift for the couple scribed on the tree.
Nice work,like it.
