I started by using a grid pattern on the face and cut moved resized and pasted several layers. changing and moving layers to get the effect i wanted, the sbs are in snapshot because there were over forty layers, you get the idea of how I did this through these.

The next step was using the lasso tool randomly in the hair to get the fracturing. i used this method to get the effect for the dress and the curves, making random shapes from the lasso tool and cut,move,resize and some times duplicate and transform.
