First made basic guide... Basically mech doesn't follow human proportion, but I wanted to make this mech in human proportion...
step 2 of 20
Now drawing a rough sketch of the mech... Nothing special at this point...
Also I alway keep the layer below my current working layer at 50% opacity so the lines aren't dark and I can easily use them as guides...
step 3 of 20
Now adding more details to the sketch...
step 4 of 20
Here I wanted to add wings to the mech... But then I thought "Angels???"... Too cliche... Dropped the idea...
step 5 of 20
Almost finished... Adding and erasing as needed...
step 6 of 20
Now tracing with the pen tool and stroking with a 2 px 100% opacity 100% hard brush...
I get this...
step 7 of 20
Now I divided the mech into four parts... Base armor, joints, armor plating and helmet & breastplate...
And I filled it with colors as show in the ss...
step 8 of 20
Now I made a hue/sat adj. layer and clipped it with the base armor... The setting were sat +25/ light -29...
Then I filled the mask with black to make the hue/sat effect invisible... Now using a 20 px soft 40% opcaity brush started shading... Also using smudge tool...
Likewise made 3 more shading layer light, lighter and darker...
step 9 of 20
Now I duplicated each shading layer once to darken or lighten it more... Here is the layout for the base armor...
step 10 of 20
Joint shading layout...
step 11 of 20
Armor plating shading layout...
step 12 of 20
Helmet & breast plate shading layout...
step 13 of 20
Now adding the sky background, resizing it and duplicating it 3 times... Setting the 2 duplicates to multiply and flattening it...
step 14 of 20
Now colorizing it to get a reddish( or pinkish) color...
step 15 of 20
Adding a photo filter... I dunno why I added it...
step 16 of 20
Now adding the metal texture independently to base armor, joint, armor plating and breastplate...
step 17 of 20
Now adding indecent light with a 40% opacity soft brush of color red with layer set to overlay and giving a little motion blur...
step 18 of 20
Now adding fire with yellow and orange color brush and the smudge tool...
step 19 of 20
Now adding some yellow highlights around the jet burst...
