made the canoe part of out the top wood area

added the edging of the canoe out of the top part as well

used the blue in the top for the water and used the liquefy tools to give it a water look with a bit of blur

used the part for canoe and just free transformed the area to be the front portion
step 5 of 14
Duplicated the front and back and merged together

used the top layer of wood for the lighter outer edging

doubled these and merged for the edging

made copy of canoe and flipped over and brought down exposure for shadow of the canoe

added my water layers to each side and merged

used the liquefy tool for water

finished the crop out of the Indian and then used the lens correction to position more for inside the canoe

added top portion of the Indian in to the canoe and gave shadow as well of the Indian.

Then used a gradient background to drop in and adjusted color to my liking

Then just added in some clouds with cloud brush
