Create plate. I used marque ... cut out holes.. then emboss and satin
step 3 of 12
I then duplicated the plate and using mesh ... manipulated onto bins
step 4 of 12
I then copied the lens and pulled them back in ratio to create this two-lens effect
step 5 of 12
Then i made rods using again marque and gradient to connect the front lens to the unit
step 6 of 12
I found these spike brushes that was given away with Computer Arts Project last year. So i painted them on a new layer and meshed them into place
step 7 of 12
The steampunk stuff i saw always seemed to have a copper ball thing .. so i created one ...
step 8 of 12
Pipes is another steampunk thing so i created a brush stroke .. cut it with the line tool ... then used dodge and burn to create rusty pipes..
step 9 of 12
i then made the holes that pipes would connect to and put on a drop shadow.
step 10 of 12
put an interesting bg using clouds then liquifying a pattern
step 11 of 12
Steampunk always seemed grungy ( very technical word )
so the easiest way was to create a new layer and fill it with noise
step 12 of 12
steam and smoke is another big 'steampunk' thing. Again, Computer Arts had a brush but i very limited.. so i bunched a couple together .. blurred it and stuck it thru liquify...
Finally , i didnt want the 'Noise' to be featured on the bg so i masked off the bins so that the texture was on them only
