I used the clone tool to "erase" the oriental letters and replace it with the stone. I left the letter that I wanted to use for my fractal shape.

I then selected the letter using the freehand selection tool (point to point) and copied and pasted as a new image. I then finished cloning over that letter.

I adjusted the color of the stones and put an average blur on it. I copied and pasted the letter as a new layer and positioned it in the corner.

I duplicated that layer and resized/rotated it and moved it.
step 5 of 8
I repeated that several times and then merged all layers except the background.
step 6 of 8
I repeated the steps to make the desired fractal that I wanted.

I duplicated the fractal, resized it and then put a glow to the bigger one and adjusted the color.

I repeated those steps a few times and then cropped the image.
