I created a new layer and made a sort of sketch of the creature using the 'Polygonal Lasso Tool' and the 'Brush Tool'.
step 2 of 13
Added shadow. Again I used the 'Polygonal Lasso Tool' to draw it out and then the black 'Brush Tool' to fill it. I lowered the opacity of this layer.
step 3 of 13
I added the filter 'Gaussian Blur' to the shadow.
step 4 of 13
I cut lots of pieces out of the digger in the source. I pasted them and transformed them to fit over my yellow silhouette. I also added pistons using a mixture of the digger and outside stock.
step 5 of 13
I hide the yellow silhouette layer.
step 6 of 13
I cut out the wheel from the tractor in the source using the 'Pen Tool'. I pasted it twice to make eyes and then 'Transform > Distorted' each.
step 7 of 13
I made the inner eyes simply by making shapes with the 'Pen Tool' and then adding colours and textures.
step 8 of 13
Added engine from outside source to give the creature a central focus.
step 9 of 13
I added extra shadows over the creatures legs using the same technique as earlier.
I also added Ripples where one of the creatures legs sits in the water. I used an outside source for this and set the blending mode to 'Screen'. (Screen makes only the white of the image show)
step 10 of 13
I added fire to the digger in the background. Again I used blending modes to achieve this effect.
step 11 of 13
I tweaked the flames following CMYK46's helpful comment.
I also removed the tractor from the background using the 'Clone Tool' and 'Brush Tool'.
step 12 of 13
I darkened the image generally and more so around the edges using the 'Gradient Tool'.
step 13 of 13
Finally I added some rain to the image. I used a mixture of the 'Noise' and 'Blur' filters and then 'Blending Options'.
This is the final image at 18.48 on 24th August. I may make more adjustments but will not add them to this SBS.
