I had an idea for a ghost train but wanted it to appear transparent with glowing light effects. I wasn't sure how to go about it so I messed around with multiple copies of the train with different blending modes.
Firstly I got the train into position. Thank you to Sergey Lebedev aka graf
I made the pic of the train into a greyscale, inverted and colorized it.
I added a radial blur (zoom), roughly masked and set this layers blend mode to vivid light at 30%

I duped my colorised train layer and added more radial blur zoom and stretched the pic horizontally to fit the tunnel pic. I set this layers blending mode to color burn at 40%

Another copy of the train this time as a greyscale, roughly masked. The layers blend mode is set to vivid light at 100%

step 8 of 19
Another colorised copy of the train, roughly masked and set the layer to multiply at 50%

Next I added a reduced opacity greyscale copy of the train with a tight mask. I set the layer to soft light at 50% and added inner and outer glows.

step 12 of 19
This is a copy step 10 with a radial blur (zoom) added. The layer is set to normal.

step 14 of 19
This is a copy of the train in step 12 set to multiply.
step 15 of 19
This is the effect of step 14
step 16 of 19
This layer is a reduced opacity greyscale version of the train with a tight mask. I set the layers blending mode to soft light at 60% and added inner and outer glows.

This is the effect of step 16
step 18 of 19
Next I duped the tunnel image which is the background layer and set the blending mode to color burn at 10%.
step 19 of 19
Next I added an adjustment layer to change the hue and lightness.
Finally I made selections of the two wall lights and added a yellow outer glow.
