step 3 of 8

step 4 of 8
duplicated layer, darkened, and blended over first....
step 5 of 8
OK...i found another cake photo that i felt was good enough for this image, masked it out, and added flower brushes for decor....Cake image - "DSC_0216_f.JPG" by mensatic: http://www.morguefile.com/archive/display/231556

on top of all layers, i placed a blue fill layer, and blended it over the rest of the image. i have to go save all my other layers on black backgrounds due to transparency issues....
step 7 of 8
alright, i saved it all into one layer. I used ribbon brushes from: http://www.easyelements.com/free-photoshop-brushes.html#ribbon
and smoke brushes by -Falln-Stock at deviantart.com: http://falln-stock.deviantart.com/art/Smoke-Brushes-Set-1-92730901
to make the strings and extra designs....
and "carousel horse" brushes by Teesbo from: http://123freebrushes.com/animals_photoshop_brushes/carousel-horses-cs2-brushes
and i just meshed them all together.
I made the rings in the horsie's mouth by creating a circular shape, cutting out the center, adding bevel and emboss, and distorting.
