When I opened Photoshop, I imagined myself sitting in front of a canvas with paint and basic brushes handy. The only concession I made to using PS is the eraser and layers.
step 2 of 11
These are my own photos that I used for reference.
step 3 of 11
I started with a sketch
step 4 of 11
I used the eyedropper to pick a color form the color swatches and then moved the little circle until I found a color I wanted. I figured this would be equivalent to adding white or black paint to a basic color.
step 5 of 11
After doing a green and then a red tomato just to see if I could do this, I started saving to show the evolution of the tomatoes.
step 6 of 11
I originally wanted to do the bottle all on one layer, as with the tomatoes, but after a couple of hours of frustration, I gave up and put the bottle on layers.
step 7 of 11
The various forms that the label took until I finally did one I was satisfied with.
step 8 of 11
step 9 of 11
As I was looking at what I had done, I decided the small green tomato was too high, so I lowered it and finished the label.
step 10 of 11
All of the stem leaves were done in the same manner.
