A Work in Progress: Fridge Fruit

When I opened Photoshop, I imagined myself sitting in front of a canvas with paint and basic brushes handy. The only concession I made to using PS is the eraser and layers.

These are my own photos that I used for reference.

I started with a sketch

I used the eyedropper to pick a color form the color swatches and then moved the little circle until I found a color I wanted. I figured this would be equivalent to adding white or black paint to a basic color.

After doing a green and then a red tomato just to see if I could do this, I started saving to show the evolution of the tomatoes.

I originally wanted to do the bottle all on one layer, as with the tomatoes, but after a couple of hours of frustration, I gave up and put the bottle on layers.

The various forms that the label took until I finally did one I was satisfied with.

As I was looking at what I had done, I decided the small green tomato was too high, so I lowered it and finished the label.

All of the stem leaves were done in the same manner.

The final thing was the shadow.
