Mask the most used parts

Duplicate and transform the planks to make a new floor

Transform again the planks duplicate and warp to make the body pieces

step 4 of 10

Used the fence to make the eyes and the mouths

step 5 of 10

Filled the eyes and mouth holes with a dark brown.
Made some circles filled with white and applied a inner shadow effect to make the spheres

step 6 of 10

The fence was also used for the wings, once satisfied with the figures enable the floor layer again

step 7 of 10

Use some layers in multiply mode to apply color

step 8 of 10

More layers in multiply mode to make paint the shadows.
Make the highlights in a new layer in overlay mode

step 9 of 10

Improve the background with a rendered clouds, duplicate the clouds layer and set it to overlay mode

step 10 of 10

Just a bit improved the general light and some shadows here
