House is first masked using eraser background tool and eraser tool.
step 5 of 9
House masking is completed here, and is ready to move to upper portion in front layer over trees.
step 6 of 9
Black layer is added behind house and trees.
step 7 of 9
Stairs have been masked out and moved into top layer and house and stairs layers have been desaturated to achieve black and white colors. Stairs have been adjusted with transform/edit/distort and perspective tools to get them to set into the scene properly. Next the moon is created with a very large paint brush tool. Larger tools are available by clicking on the circle image and choosing a larger size when the slider appears. Size can also be adjusted with the transform/edit/scale tool.
step 8 of 9
Steps have been reversed here with transform/edit/flip horizontal tool. Raven is drawn in by hand on a new layer with paint brush tool, but also could be done using a photo from sources available. Scale tool is used to get proper size and placement of bird.
step 9 of 9
Gaussien blur is added to edges of the moon to give it a glow. Color has also been adjusted and layers cleaned, as dark splotches were showing up in the uploaded image. (I work with uploading with the 'publish later' mode so that changes can be made before uploading.) Foilage from along side of the staircase has also been duplicated and placed on left side of stairs. Everything seemed too flat before that. Also, saturation, hue, light and contrast were adjusted often to get darkness right.
