This guide was made for entry:
Drift Roses
In Contest:
driftwood
Original image
step 1 of 11
Cut out pieces of drift wood in 4 separate layers
step 2 of 11
Various macros of roses I took pictures of, for guide pattern
step 3 of 11
Using polygonal lasso tool to select sections of the wood, I dragged each over to each part of the roses.
step 4 of 11
Using liquefy to push and form each pedal, changing the opacity to about 50%, I matched the shape of each rose part.
step 5 of 11
Then using color adjustment to change to each color, adjusting the shadows, mid-tones and highlights.
step 6 of 11
Then, using brightness/contrast to adjust the shade of each pedal, leaf, stem and thorn.
step 7 of 11
After matching all rose parts, using dodge and burn, I adjusted the shading to match the originals, giving it more dimension.
step 8 of 11
For a final background, cropping out a section of the grass, and then using free transform to stretch to the full size of the canvas.
step 9 of 11
Using color balance to make greener and brightness/contrast to make it brighter.
step 10 of 11
Then filtering with artistic/poster edges to give it more of an edge.
step 11 of 11
Using the radial blur with 50% zoom for more definition, finally, using filter/artistic/fresco for the final touch.
