Draw in an line as if the melon was cut in half and you can see part of the top of the sliced melon.

Draw in a line for the bottom edge of the melon top.

Draw in the center of the melon, where there would be an indentation from the seeds being removed.

your melon should be looking like this once you remove the unwanted lines.

slowly begin to shade in the melon indentation and the top of the melon once you have figured our your light source.

Add more shading to the top, blend it in with a small piece of gauze to give it texture.

Using the kneaded eraser lighten and thin down some of the lines.

Add the shading to the rind of the melon and the texture to the outer skin. Make sure to draw the texture lightly in the lighter areas and no texture where the highlight is the strongest.
