Creation of Tranquility: Step 1

step 2 of 7

The pond was selected with the ben tool, then placed into a new document. I then went over the top with a soft layer mask.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 2

step 3 of 7

I created a Light blue and darkish blue radial gradient, which i then warped to make it seem like a light streak where the sky would then be overlayed.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 3

step 4 of 7

I placed the sky onto the image and set the blend mode to screen, i then also applied a reflection to the pond, with the layer mode set to Soft Light

Creation of Tranquility: Step 4

step 5 of 7

I softened the back edge of the pond and i also used levels to make the water pop a bit more.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 5

step 6 of 7

I applied the source image, and also used the dodge and burn tools to create some ripples. I also used a leyr mask with a black brush set to about 70% to create the illusion that part of the plant was underwater. To this i also created a slight shadow, and then duplicated the whole thing and shrunk it, then moved it to the back and to the left. After that came the exhausting task of trying to get the mood right!

Creation of Tranquility: Step 6

step 7 of 7

I added some fog to the horizon using Filter - Render - Fog and set to screen, thanks to pingenvy and Loopyluv
