I opened my source image.
A fire image.

I transferred my source image to my canvass/document.
Drag and drop my source image.

I duplicated my source image.

I applied a filter on my original layer.
I applied Polar Coordinates found in the Distort Filter Menu.

I transformed and resized my filtered image/layer that it would be at bottom center of the document or canvass.

I used the magic wand to eliminate some of the black areas of the image.
Deleted some black parts.

I switch on my duplicated fire layer and used again my magic wand to eliminate black areas of the image.

I turned on visibility for both of the layers to see preliminary results.

I turned off visibility for the filtered fire layer.
Then duplicated the other fire layer.

I applied a filter to the duplicated fire layer.

I burned the duplicated layer just a little bit to darken its edges and tips.

I changed its layer opacity and added a layer mask for easy masking.

I resized it a little bit and move it to the center of the circling flames do it would look like a face.

I used the 3d trick or the definition trick.
I duplicated and nudged for a couple of times to come up with a little 3d effect on the face.

I drag up the circling fires layer to perform another masking action.
I lowered its layer opacity for easy masking.

I made a text layer with the word "Pyrophobia" and applied a layer style.

I duplicated the text layer and flipped the duplicated layer vertically.

I made another text layer with the words "Fear of fire" and applied a layer style.

Transformed it and flipped it vertically then changed its layer opacity.

Merged all of the layers.
