step 2 of 9

type whatever text you prefer, make sure it is black, rasterize it, and turn it into a brush. (edit

step 3 of 9

now make sure your color is white and stamp your new text all over the document, vary your placement and brush sizes.

step 4 of 9

for this step you might want to reference something, I already knew what I had in mind but now were going to use the numbers to form our primary figure.

Creation of Arithmophobia: Step 4

step 5 of 9

I used the pen tool to shape half the face then I duplicated the layer, flipped it, and merged them. After a few minor adjustments I was left with this.

step 6 of 9

now to add values, pick whatever color you want. try to remember where the curves are on a face, I had trouble with this part so I added a spherize filter at 50% (use the ellipse tool and shift to select the face as a circle) before I started painting to help me out.

step 7 of 9

next I used downloaded brushes (link is below the entry) to surround the face in smoke

step 8 of 9

unfortunately the brushes were not enough. So I rendered clouds expanded them to twice their original size and used a soft brush to erase around the face.

Creation of Arithmophobia: Step 8

step 9 of 9

A side ways "8" forms the infinity symbol, two number signs on the cheeks(blend mode was linear burn), and some final adjustments should leave you with the finished product
