1. The first step, I opened up a new blank pallet with a transparent background.
step 2 of 40
2. The next step, I used a thesaurus and used these words “RIPPLE SWIRL PULSATE SPIRAL WHIRL COIL VIBRATE QUIVER WAVE RHYTHMâ€
step 3 of 40
3. Then I separated them with different colors.
step 4 of 40
4. I then bring the type down to the bottom of the pallet.
step 5 of 40
5. Using free transform, I rotate the words counter clockwise put a slight angle on them.
step 6 of 40
6. Then I cropped down to the type.
step 7 of 40
7. Using Image size, then uncheck constrain properties and make the height the same as the width to stretch the type.
step 8 of 40
8. Make a new layer.
step 9 of 40
9. Use polygonal lasso tool to make a guide to give it more depth of perception.
step 10 of 40
10. Then make sure you select the type layer.
step 11 of 40
11. Rastersize the type
step 12 of 40
12. Using rectangular marquee, select each letter.
step 13 of 40
13. Using free transform for each, stretch each so that the tip of each letter reaches the top and bottom of the guide.
step 14 of 40
14. After I have free-transformed all the letters, I delete the guide by deleting the layer I just made.
step 15 of 40
15. I then change my canvas size to 5000 Pixels and move the type to the bottom left corner.
step 16 of 40
16. Using filter/distort/polar coordinates and then ok.
step 17 of 40
17. I now have the first part of my design.
step 18 of 40
18. I duplicate the layer and drag to another blank canvas. I then flip the canvas 180 degrees and drag that layer over to the original and repeat after I merge the two to give create 4 perfectly angled.
step 19 of 40
19. Once again I merge the visible to move it as one piece.
step 20 of 40
20. I then rotate the design 45 degrees
step 21 of 40
21. I repeat with 22.5 and get this pattern in the end.
step 22 of 40
22. Once again I merge the visible.
step 23 of 40
23. I open a new pallet to design the background layer.
step 24 of 40
24. Using the rectangular marquee on the new blank pallet by using the guide, I fill 2 different sections of the canvas using the paint bucket tool.
step 25 of 40
25. I then repeat with the other corners so I have 4 different colors.
step 26 of 40
26. Then I resize it to 600. It’s easier to liquefy if it’s smaller.
step 27 of 40
27. Then we are going to liquefy. Use the twirl clockwise tool and make sure your brush size is at 600. You will adjust your brush size at times to get a finer point in the center of the swirl. I would suggest 400 then 200 then 100 and 50 and just use your best judgment. It does not have to be perfect.
step 28 of 40
28. That is how I created the background swirl.
step 29 of 40
29. I then select filter/blur/radial/and then select Spin blur and set the amount to 100.
step 30 of 40
30. I repeat selecting filter/blur/radial and then select zoom and set the amount to 50.
step 31 of 40
1. As you can see, using both radial blur settings (Spin and Zoom) we gave it a really colorful, blurry effect. I then re-size it and drag it back to my original type layer.
step 32 of 40
32. I then open a new canvas and select my type layer. Then selecting image/rotate canvas/flip canvas horizontal.
step 33 of 40
33. I then drag this layer back to my main canvas.
step 34 of 40
34. Then I change the opacity on this layer down to 30%.
step 35 of 40
35. Then I decide to crop out the extra background and just have mainly type in the swirl.
step 36 of 40
36. Once again, I open another canvas and drag the original type layer over and use filter/blur/radial and zoom with an amount of 50.
step 37 of 40
37. I put this layer between my two type layers.
step 38 of 40
38. All this does is creates a little bit more motion in the background but not too extreme.
step 39 of 40
39. For the final step, I adjust the brightness and contrast to the original type layer.
step 40 of 40
40. Finally, I adjust the background layer to make it darker.
What? no comments on how I did my perspective? Yeah I know there's an easier way in free transform......
(5 years and 3686 days ago)This SBS kind of sucks but only because a lot of work could have been avoided if I knew a couple things.
