The image was imported into photoshop, the sky was removed.

Colours of the forest were darkened

Colour Balance was used to tint the trees red

The cross was added, when selecting it i saved time by selecting half and duplicating it, and even that took me longer than normal!
Once imported into the other image i resized it and played with levels and curves to make the image lighter.
