Cut pasted the pieces in new layers to create the wings.

Liquify tool. To make parts of the ribbon transparent I duplicated the layer, set properties with transparency to 60%, and then erased parts of the 100% visible layer.

Cut pasted a white part of the church. Then with liquify tool I transformed it to body and face. Used dodge burn for volume.

For the background I used the gradient tool and then began to dodge an burn.

Desaturated the layer.

Added new layer with overlay properties and filled it with gradient tool. Some dodge and burn here too.

Now the angel looks something like that.

For the hair I used this part of the cross, cut and pasted, liquified many times. Also used plastic wrap.

In a new layer I painted the glow for wings edges and sword.

New layer on top of all. Properties to overlay. I painted with a soft round brush the glow using fill and transparency at about 54%. Colours: pastel yellow and pastel cyan.
