In Contest:
castle designs
step 1 of 9
Created a bg with the gradient tool. Then brushed the distant mountains and part of the sea.
step 2 of 9
Put some details in the mountains and added a some clouds.
step 3 of 9
Created the foreground of the background.
step 4 of 9
Used the brushtool for the trees. I use a graphic tablet and a "hard" brush to get a ruff effect, not the standard brushtool.
step 5 of 9
Another tree in the foreground. Again used all sorts of scatter and hard brushes with a small pixelsize.
step 6 of 9
Brushed the leaves, again with a scatter brush. This time a large pixelsize.(25-50px)
step 7 of 9
Created the castle. When you draw buildings, make sure you decide quikly where the lightsource is coming from.
step 8 of 9
Details in the castle, thats just a lot of zooming and using small brushes.(2-5px)
step 9 of 9
Made the first part of the castle the livingspace, the back became the fortress.
