used the transform and copied layers distorting a bit at a time, what you see on this is 27 layers all warped and distorted.

Then copied the first layer made smaller and blended the edges.

Copied again blended edged and used the dodge and burn tool to create depth.

To add more curve I copied the first layer again and used polar coorinates.

Some more dodge and burn.
