Rough out some shapes using the pen tool.

Draw a small section of the border pattern using the pen tool.

Copy and paste the pattern.

Add the border to main picture.
step 5 of 13
Cut out individual scales from left hand shell. Arrange in rows and adjust colour to green.

Spherize scales on vertical axis only.

Warp/Transform several copies of the scales to fit serpents body.
step 8 of 13
Warp sections of right hand shell to make serpents under side.
step 9 of 13
Add some highlights and shadows using dodge and burn to give the serpent a 3 dimensional look.

Spilt tea on a sheet of paper and scanned it in (After it had dried).
step 11 of 13
Same as step 10, but with more drips.
step 12 of 13
Added both tea stain images as top layers on main image. Lowered opacity and changed blending mode to multiply.
step 13 of 13
Added vignette using Lens correction. Final adjustments of colour on Background.
