Masked out the turtle and rotated him so that he would be level on the background.
step 3 of 18
Cloned out the blades of grass from the original image.
step 4 of 18
Did a quick cutout of the part of the source which I was to use.
step 5 of 18
Cut out the corner tower, flipped and resized it to go on the opposite end. I then cloned the wall onto it to match the light as the original one is in shadow.
I also cut and pasted a section of the grass and transformed it into position.
step 6 of 18
I then masked out the castle properly, removing the sky.
step 7 of 18
I cut out the mountain onto the turtle shell.
step 8 of 18
I played with some color adjustments on the shell and masked out the top section which wasn't required.
step 9 of 18
Next I added my new background.
step 10 of 18
I cloned out certain unwanted parts of the background (power poles) and then duplicated and blurred the copy. I then masked out part of the blurred layer to give a depth of field.
step 11 of 18
I then added a shadow below the turtle to ground him.
step 12 of 18
Next I changed the sky to give it more mood.
step 13 of 18
I then cut out a section of the grass and overlayed it on the turtles head. I transformed it and lower the opacity until I was happy with it. I then did the same for the legs.
step 14 of 18
I then painted the lower portions of the turtle green, set the blending mode to "color" and lowered the opacity considerably. I then masked out areas that I didn't want that color to be on.
step 15 of 18
I duplicated the turtle shell's overlay and played with color adjustments. I then masked out part of it just to blend the colors a little better.
step 16 of 18
I then created two more layers, one blue and one tan and changed the blending modes to "color". The opacity was set relatively low so as to even all the colors out.
step 17 of 18
To finish I sharpened the image and made some color adjustments to achieve the look I was after. All in all I am happy with the result.
step 18 of 18
Made lighting changes to the shell as suggested by CMYK.
So Cool... Thanks for the SBS...
