I placed the elements I wanted for the background.
step 10 of 23
I masked the window and using the dune grass brush I blended it with the grass.
step 11 of 23
I placed a different sky behind the window and the gass, but in front of the stormy sky. I selected the inner side of the window, inverted the selection and deleted the areas of the new sky I didn't want.
step 12 of 23
Then I placed the other elements.
step 13 of 23
I masked each element, except for the snake, and using the dune grass brush I blended them with the grass one at a time.
step 14 of 23
I created a hue/saturation adjustment layer and masked it as to change lightness and saturation of the unmasked areas.
step 15 of 23
I created 2 adjustment layers clipped to the man layer to change his brightness/contrast and hue/saturation.
step 16 of 23
An adjustment layer was created over the stormy sky to change its brightness/contrast.
step 17 of 23
To each element layer I wanted to work on the shadows, I clipped a layer and created the shadows one at a time.
step 18 of 23
I created a layer under each element that cast shadow and created the shadows one at a time.
step 19 of 23
To give the scene some more depth, I placed a mushroom as first plan and blurred it.
step 20 of 23
I then added lightenings to the stormy sky.
step 21 of 23
Some birds were added to the inner sky.
step 22 of 23
I merged all the layers at the top, made a copy of the merged layers, dessaturated it and to it I applied gaussian blur (20px), overlay blending and 40% opacity.
step 23 of 23
Finally I created a colour fill layer at the top, applying overlay blending and 50% opacity.
