step 1 of 6

The source image was cropped, i made the canvas more vertical to show more of the new sky, and to make room for lighting that would later be added behind the tree.

step 2 of 6

I duplicated the sky and set the layer to "Soft Light" to increase the contrast of the sky, i also applied a curves adjustment layer to the original source image.

step 3 of 6

The tree was added to the image, colours were matched slightly (i didn;t worry too much about the colours, because colour overlays later woul match them seamlessly) I also added a slight shadow.

Creation of Nature Always Wins: Step 3

step 4 of 6

Adjustments applied to the tree to create more contrast, and I also added some light rays and a halo eminating from the tree, just to draw the eye towards it.

step 5 of 6

Early colour adjustments

Creation of Nature Always Wins: Step 5

step 6 of 6

Rain added by creating a new layer and filling it with black.. i then chose Filter->Noise->Add noise.. i checked the monochromatic box to ensure the noise was black and white. I then applied a gaussian blur of 1.5pxls and used motion blur to create the rain shape. I then adjusted this layer with levels, so that the amount of raindrops was reduced. I then set this layer to "Lighter Colour"
