A new canvas is used to move small section of striped canopy in with lasso tool, then liquify warp tool is used to begin to pull out shape of a morning glory.
step 3 of 13
Here more designing with the warp tool is being done to shape foremost part of flower.
step 4 of 13
Now the base of the flower is formed with the warp tool, then smudge tool.
step 5 of 13
Green is added to the base of the flower with the brush tools, then little bit of stem drawn from stem with smudge tool. Eraser tool will trim flower edges.
step 6 of 13
Green stems are now brushed onto white wall of pump source photo in a pattern that a morning glory plant would naturally make as it grows.
step 7 of 13
On another new canvas, I decided to form a bud to be used with flowers and leaves. A small piece of the striped canopy is brought onto the work area with lasso tool and trimmed in a rectangular shape with eraser tool.
step 8 of 13
Steps to create bud to be used with flowers. 1st the liquify warp tool forms the bud, then it is desaturated, next blue color added back into it. Green stem at bottom will be added next using the brush tool.
step 9 of 13
Steps for forming the leaves were 1. lasso section of trees from source with canopy, 2. liquify warp into a leaf shape, trying to form vein-like shapes, 3. trim with eraser and smudge tools, pulling out a small stem.
step 10 of 13
Flowers, leaves and buds are started on the vine area. Shapes will all be duplicated (alt key) then scaled to various sizes and rotated into different positions so that there will be a lot of variety on the vine. I left all these shapes on their own layers rather than merge them so that I could continue to duplicate individual shapes that I needed for placement. I will also be able to add shadows easily on wall layer or on individual flower forms.
step 11 of 13
More flower, leaf and bud shapes are added with attention to not facing shapes the same direction in any one area. I also continue to use varying sizes by using edit/transform/scale tool and rotate tool as needed.
step 12 of 13
More vines were added with brush tool here as I felt it needed to have more 'weight' overhead.
step 13 of 13
Shadows have been added behind flowers on the white wall, and also on most flowers and leaves where they would not be picking up much source light. Some little 'twizzlies' of vine are also added with fine pen tool brush.
